       update-passwd [options]

説明

       update-passwd  handles  updates of /etc/passwd, /etc/shadow and /etc/group on running Debian systems.  It
       compares the current files to master copies, distributed in the  base-passwd  package,  and  updates  all
       entries  in the global system range (that is, 0–99).  It leaves backup copies of the previous versions of
       modified files with the extension ‘.org’ (for “original”).

オプション

       update-passwd は、通常の GNU コマンドライン構文を受け付けます。 長いオプションは、ダッシュ (‘-’) 2 個で始
       まります。

       -p, --passwd-master=FILE
              passwd      データベースのマスターコピーとして      FILE       を使用します。       デフォルト値は
              /usr/share/base-passwd/passwd.master です。

       -g, --group-master=FILE
              group       データベースのマスターコピーとして       FILE       を使用します。      デフォルト値は
              /usr/share/base-passwd/group.master です。

       -P, --passwd=FILE
              システムの passwd データベースとして FILE を使用します。 デフォルト値は /etc/passwd です。

       -S, --shadow=FILE
              システムの shadow データベースとして FILE を使用します。 デフォルト値は /etc/shadow です。

       -G, --group=FILE
              システムの group データベースとして FILE を使用します。 デフォルト値は /etc/group です。

       -s, --sanity-check
              整合チェックのみを行い、他には何もしません。

       -v, --verbose
              処理内容の詳細を提供します。2 個目の -v で、 さらに詳細になります。

       -n, --dry-run
              何もしませんが、何をしようとしているかを表示だけ行います。

       -L, --no-locking
              アカウントデータベースをロックしません。 これはデバッグ用にのみ使用するようにしてください。 繰り返
              しますが。本当に必要なとき以外は、使用しないでください!

       -h, --help
              update-passwd の使用法のまとめを表示します。

       -V, --version
              バージョン番号を表示します。

環境変数

       DEBIAN_HAS_FRONTEND
              If this environment variable is set and the --dry-run  flag  was  not  given,  update-passwd  uses
              debconf  to  prompt  for  whether  to  make changes.  Each proposed change will produce a separate
              prompt.  User or group removals, UID or GID changes, and home directory changes will be asked with
              high priority.  User or group additions and shell changes will  be  asked  with  medium  priority.
              Questions  about whether to move entries above the NIS compat inclusion entry or whether to change
              the GECOS of a user are asked at low priority.

バグ

       現在のところ、update-passwd は shadow ファイルの検証を行いません。 passwd のエントリが shadow  にもあるか
       (その反対も)、 またパスワードが両方のファイルにないかチェックするべきです。
